SUPPORTING COMMUNITY-LED AND GROUND UP DECISION-MAKING

MOVING FROM PLAN TO ACTION

Building on more than a decade of work with the Collaborative Community Design Initiative (CCDI), the CDRC embarked on a new project titled “Moving From Plan to Action.” The project leverages the impact of community visioning and planning work completed through CCDI, further develops community-identified priority projects, and challenges the traditional top-down decision-making process into a more equitable and just model. This includes the amplification of community voice in shaping public investment.

Moving From Plan to Action has five distinct tasks: identifying priority projects to further develop in partnership with community leaders and partners; organizing a series of workshops and surveys to further refine the projects; bringing together design and development experts with community leaders to define strategies for project implementation; developing community toolkits and prospectus documents; and facilitating meetings with elected officials and their representatives to share the work. Overall, the project promotes the work developed through CCDI, while also providing toolkits for community leaders to support community-led decision-making, public and private investment, and advocacy.
